Optima Transport Solutions is a family business run by Jack and Fiona Dieleman out of Tauranga. Jack is who you call, who quotes you, and who does the work. No offshore queue, no bouncing between departments.
Founder & head of operations
Jack's background is in the heavy-diesel industry, having been trained in the Dutch Army. Once in New Zealand he worked his way through the ranks of the New Zealand Detroit Diesel and Allison agents over a 17-year period, in many different roles including parts management, workshop management, special projects, engine sales, warranty services, and finishing as Branch Manager in Rotorua.
From there he and his wife Fiona went on to build up the Rotorua distributorship — Bay Oil Supplies & Services Ltd — for Total Oil over a seven-year period. They introduced technology and stock-management systems into the business, tripled the turnover, and built a substantial customer base, gaining a reputation for their fair dealings, honesty and confidentiality. After selling in 2012, they have been focusing full time on growing Optima.
How Optima came about
Optima Transport Solutions Ltd came about in 2009 through a chance request from a customer to find a solution to reduce his AdBlue consumption costs. That sent us on a search for a quality solution from a reputable supplier.
Since fitting our first SCR/DEF delete unit we haven't looked back. We've built up a wider range of units and solutions than other suppliers, and have since identified other products — EGR and DPF service — that can benefit transport operators running tight margins.
Today we're saving operators money on their running costs across four markets — no regen cycles, no urea, no expensive emissions repairs down the track. Just trucks on the road, earning.

Trained in heavy diesel
Jack's foundation in heavy-diesel mechanics starts in the Dutch Army, where he trains as a military diesel mechanic.
- 17 years
Detroit Diesel & Allison, NZ
Works his way up through the NZ Detroit Diesel and Allison agents — parts management, workshop management, special projects, engine sales, warranty, and finally Branch Manager in Rotorua.
- 2005–2012
Bay Oil Supplies & Services
With Fiona, builds the Rotorua distributorship for Total Oil over 7 years. Introduces technology and stock-management systems. Triples turnover. Builds a reputation for fair dealing, honesty and confidentiality before selling in 2012.

Optima Transport Solutions
